The International Organization for Migration (IOM) is a global intergovernmental organisation that focuses on migration in the broadest sense. Apart from helping Member and Observer States to manage migration more effectively, the IOM facilitates cooperation among states, assists countries in assessing, designing and implementing more secure travel documents and issuance systems, develops training programmes, and generates donor investments on behalf of less affluent states. This article offers an introduction to the organisation, its activities and its objectives.
