The number of ID and travel documents in circulation is staggering. Approximately 200 countries around the world issue such documents. Moreover, each country issues different document types and versions. Against this background it is easy to see why even the most weathered document inspectors are unable to remember all security features currently in circulation. To overcome this problem, document control training focuses on the recognition and verification of generic security features. This article looks at security features through the eyes of an immigration officer, and highlights the most effective features.
