The use of laser technology to protect passport photographs( By Rudolf L. van Renesse ) Print
issue 2, 2003

Traditional techniques to bond a photo to a document are inadequate. Evidently, the main problem is the existence of a separate photograph. The logical response is to integrate the photo in the document. Rudolf L. Van Renesse (1940) worked as a senior research engineer for TNO Institute of Applied Physics, Delft, (the Netherlands) between 1966 and 2002. He subsequently founded VanRenesse Consulting, established in The Hague (the Netherlands). Van Renesse is involved in document security projects for government departments, financial institutions and industrial companies, both in the Netherlands and abroad. Rudolf is the editor of `Optical Document Security` and organises the biannual conferences on `Optical Security and Counterfeit Deterrence Techniques` in San José, CA, USA.
