Introducing active-thermal fingerprint sensor technology( By Ngoc Dinh ) Print
issue 1, 2003

Active-thermal fingerprint sensor technology offers several distinct advantages. One unique benefit is that the thermal sensor can be embedded in elastic polymers and incorporated in smartcards and chipcards. A reputable global organisation is currently looking into the possibility of including the sensor in its fingerprint systems, which are sold to law enforcement agencies around the world. The technology will also be used as part of a promising solution to combat fingerprint fraud. Ngoc Dinh (1962) holds an MSc in electrical engineering from Trondheim University, Norway. He has worked on sensor technology, ASIC design and fingerprint identification for several years.
