ICAO: Setting Standards for International Civil Aviation and MRTDs - A concise overview of ICAO( by Print

As a specialist UN agency, ICAO has extensive regulatory responsibility for the safe and orderly growth of international civil aviation. It is also responsible for the development of MRTD standards on behalf of its 188 Member States. This article provides a concise overview of ICAO`s responsibilities. Roderick Heitmeyer is currently a Director of ACI, where he is responsible for its Liaison Office, which maintains contact with ICAO in Montreal. At IATA, he was Chief Economist and Economics and Research Services Director. At ICAO, his responsibilities as Chief, Joint Financing and Facility Management Branch, included facilitation and the MRTD programme. Roderick continues to be involved in ICAO/ISO work, and has participated in all TAG-MRTD meetings since 1986. He is a member of the NTWG.
