There has, in recent times, been an unprecedented emphasis on the enhancement of travel documents through the use of advanced physical security features, contactless chip data storage capacity and biometrics. While these features are extremely useful and important, they place a growing burden on the vulnerabilities of the systems on which those enhanced documents rely for entitlement decisions and personalisation. The need to address issues associated with breeder documents, system integrity, internal controls and accountability, risk assessments and performance auditing has always been with us. However, it has now become urgent and critical. |
