issue 14, 2005
The introduction of an ID card in the UK is no longer a distant prospect. If all goes according to plan, the card will be accompanied by a central database, to be accessed by public and private sector entities alike (assuming they are authorised to do so). Neither will it necessarily help to reduce terrorism or identity fraud. Richard Poynder explains the issues involved. |
