It has become fashionable lately to think that security and fraud prevention are more important than privacy. Bearing in mind prevailing fears of terrorist attacks and daily media reports of identity theft and credit card fraud, it is easy enough to push privacy issues to the background. However, public acceptance of biometrics hinges on a single factor: trust. As Terry Aulich explains, the Privacy Code could make an important contribution to the establishment of trust.
