swiss passport more than lives up to expectations - No forgeries, no confusion( by - ) Print
issue 10, 2005

Issue 1 of KJDI included an introduction to the new Swiss passport (featured in the ‘recently launched’ section). The passport, which was designed by Roger Pfund, combines a striking design with the latest security features, making it exceptionally difficult to counterfeit or alter. The project team assembled to develop the new passport was set two important objectives: maximise the passport’s ability to withstand attempts at photo substitution and include functionality allowing passport data to be compared to data stored elsewhere. To add to the challenge, the project team formulated a third objective: only include unambiguous, self-explanatory security features that are strictly necessary from a security perspective. Sixteen months on, KJDI talks to Roman Vanek to discuss the latest state of play.
